Disciple, according to Easton’s Bible Dictionary, is as follows: A disciple of Christ is one who,

Not only do we need weekly celebration and worship time as a corporate body, we also need a deeper relationship with fellow believers in order to grow in faith. A smaller, more intimate group is where we get to know one another personally, carry one another’s burdens, pray for one another and learn through relationships how to be more like Christ in practice. It’s where what we know is walked out in shoe leather.

In Phil. 4:9 Paul writes,

“The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Jesus preached to many, many people, but always returned to His core group of “disciples” – teaching them, training them and breaking bread (fellowshipping) with them. He used a small group to equip the future leaders of the early church to change the world, and we believe this same approach is just as vital today.

At Tabernacle Baptist Church we have created adult discipleship groups, also known as D-Groups, that meet once weekly on Sunday mornings at Tabernacle at 9:45AM, or Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday home groups that meet at 6:30PM.

We would be pleased to have you join us on Sunday mornings.  If you are interested in checking out either one of our current D-Group studies, please email us at tabernacle121@yahoo.com for more information. We welcome you and look forward to meeting you soon.

We are currently studying “The Case For Christ” by Lee Strobel. The Case For Christ study is an investigation of the evidence for Jesus. The Case For Christ is unique because it accounts the investigative efforts of Chicago Tribute editor Lee Strobel (a self-proclaimed skeptic and Atheist) and his attempt to disprove Christ’s existence. This is a six week study with a video introduction each week.

Dickerson’s D-Group

HOSTED BY: Owen & Myrtle Dickerson
WHEN: Tuesdays @ 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Jim & Lori Newman's Home - Middle River MD

Our current D-Group study beginning October 2020 is called “The Comeback” by Louie Giglio.  There comes a time in all of our lives we find ourselves in that place where only God can come through for us; that place where we all need a comeback.

The Comeback illuminates how the Bible is the story of the greatest comeback of all – the one that makes every other comeback possible – the resurrection. The darkness took its best shot at Jesus, but hell’s power was not enough to keep Him down. Wherever we find ourselves in life, God is there and Jesus is enough even when you can’t come back. Because the grave is not empty and Jesus is alive, we can all rise from ashes with new purpose and hope.
